Oh God!! Noo!!

Eighth grade, oldest kids in the school, rulers of the school, final products after being in the school for 3 years, but then, it gets worse. Eighth  grade meaning one more year, end of eighth  grade meaning two weeks and summer. Your whole way of life for the past three years, is currently being shattered. High school, back to being the babies but we're going to be the oldest soon, four years is soon right? High school, me and my mom drove by my high school, well my soon to be high school, it was humongous and my first thought was Oh God Noo, I'm not ready for this I can't do it. Well, I don't think I can, can I do it? Can you? Well you got two weeks and a couple of fun months to figure it out. Nah, your going to end up forgetting all about high school and your going to get so used to not having school, that when you go back it's torture. It'll be fine, everything's ok, it's just another school with way more kids than your used to, bigger hallways, bigger people, older kids, bigger chance of getting lost. Being separated from the kids you have gone to school with for three years. That's all fine though you have 4 years to get used to it and make new friends, and then, if you get into a good college, you do it all over again. Goodbye Eighth grade, goodbye familiar faces, goodbye friendly teachers, goodbye middle school. Hello Highschool, hello strangers in my class, hello strange teachers, hello Highschool.

Just Keep Swimming

Even though my title might imply it, this blog has nothing to do with movies, this blog is about one thing that I really love about summer. The one thing that I really love about summer is the warm weather. I really love the hot weather because the hotter it gets the more my mom takes us to go swimming. A lot of my cousins own or have acces to pools, so as it gets hotter, I suggest to my mom that we should go by my cousins more. I don't really see my cousins very often so the summer is when I mostly see them, and it's even better that I get to see them and go swimming at the same time. As you might have noticed I love swimming and being outside and around water, and we go that a lot during the really hot months during summer.

Coal City Area Club

For spring break I went to my Uncle's house, he lives in Goose Lake. Goose Lake is near coal city and it's basically just a bunch of houses that are in a river. I spent my whole spring break at my uncles house with my cousins, Kaylee and Junior. Me and my cousins rode on their hover boards and went to a birthday party at this area club that my uncle is apart of. The area club is just called the Coal City Area club, and they always have party's there. The area club also has a small beach, this beach is actually just the part of the lake but part of the lake has been separated by a rope with buoys attached to it. The boats are not allowed to pass the rope because that's the beach. Whenever I'm at my uncles and it's nice out we go to the area club and ride on his pantoon and then we go swimming at the beach. During spring break it was too cold to do any off those things so we just went to the party. I always love going to my uncles because I don't see that side of my family a lot, and because it's really fun to hang out with my cousins. (It was hard to locate specific photos of the whole landscape but I found a picture of the beach and of the welcome sign)

Missouri

This summer I plan on going to Missouri to visit it my grandpa, with my dad and my step-family. We only go to Missouri once a year because it takes at least six hours to drive down there, not including bathroom breaks or any other breaks, and my dad has to find a way to integrate our trip into his work schedule. While we're driving down there we pass through St. Louis and we are able to see the Arch as we drive by. My grandpa lives in a country area of Missouri and to get there we have to drive up this steep hill, and then we just drive through the count until we get to my grandpas small town. Every time we get to my grandpas we start the grill and have a cookout, and the next day we fish and go swimming in the creek that is accrossed the street from his house. We only stay for a week or two at a time, but everyday we try to make time to go swimming in the creek, and fishing. Before we leave, usually two days before, we go to a firework store and buy a whole bunch of fireworks and the night before we leave we light off the fireworks, and have a mother cook out before we have to leave for the year. My favorite parts of my trip would be swimming in the creek and lighting the fireworks.

RASHAD IS ABSENT AGAIN TODAY!

(This book focuses on race so if you dont like that sort of stuff I do not recommend this book to you) I just finished the book All American Boys by Jason Reynolds and Brendan Kelly. This book is about a boy named Rashad, who is black, that goes to a store and he reaches into his bag to get his phone and money for bag of chips. The store owner and the cop that was there both said e was trying to steal the bag, so the cop brought him outside and cuffed him, Rashad moved a little nad the cop said encased trying to resist so he started to beat him. Rashad is put into the hospital and their whole community gets split in half. Some say Rashad didn't do anything wrong and the police used unnecessary force, others say the cop was doing his job. The other main character is a white boy named Quinn, at first Quinn was on the cops side because the cop is his best friends older brother who practically raised him, but Quinn was there whatching accrossd the street as Rashad was beaten by the cop he saw what happened and he acknowledged that this was his problem and that he has to stop running from it.
I really liked this book because even though it was written a few years ago things like what happens in the book still happen. Usually, if something goes wrong or someone gets hurt everyone brings it back down to race. Sometimes, this causes a big conflict between the community everyone is forced to choose a side and they get outcased no matter what side they choose.

The Hurricane

One thing I regret is not getting on the big waterside at Key Lime Cove. This is probably a very cliche regret, because every kid regrets it when they feel like there missing out. It was about two years ago, and at Key Lime they have a slide called the hurricane. It's basically a tunnel that leads into a bowl thing that goes into another tunnel and you end up in the lazy river. I was terrified of it, i never wanted to go on it. I regret not going on it the first day because we were only there for two days, I only had a couple of hours to ride it, instead of two days. The only reason that I regret this is because I let my fear get the best of me when I could have been having loads of fun, and because everyone called me a scary cat for like a couple of months after that.

"If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude."

If I had a day to hang out with somebody famous I think that I wold choose Maya Angelou because  she had so many great accomplishments. She didn't let anything hold her back, she was part of the civil rights movement and she continued on and became a famous poet and author. I think that she would be able to show me a different perspective on my life and others lives and just life in general. She seems like the kind of person who could say one sentence to you and it would change the world forever. If we ever did hang out I would ask her where she got her inspiration for some of her poems from, and I would ask her if there were a lot of people who tried to knock her down as she tried to reach her dreams, and I would ask her hoe she dealt with them.

Propaganda from the Holocaust

          What is propaganda?
Propaganda is the idea of spreading information in a misleading or controversial items(images, quotes, Ideas, speeches).

The piece of propaganda that I chose has a picture of a duck in overalls. The text on the picture translates to, " Shame on you chatterer! The enemy is listening. Silence is your duty." This piece of propaganda means that the government was telling the citizens that they had to be quiet for fear that their enemy is listening. I think that this piece of propaganda was aimed towards everybody, and that it was effective for them. Looking at it today, without the knowledge of how everyone felt during this time, i think that it isn't a really effective piece of propaganda but because of the circumstances and how no body wanted to go against the government, and because  a lot of them grew up with the Nazi ways, it was most likely a powerful piece of propaganda back then. This piece of propaganda was most likely created to get the citizens afraid of speaking to much, they don't want to risk betraying their government because "the enemy is listening", so they stay quiet.

Bullies Be Gone

The best advice that I every received was when I was in third grade. I used to be bullied a lot in third grade and the bullies would always call me ugly and other stuff like that. One day my mom told me that if I just ignored them and pretended like I didn't care about them or what they said, they would eventually leave me alone. So everyday I went to school and they tried to make fun of me or make me feel bad, I would just walk away or ignore them. It worked, eventually they left me alone and ever since then anytime someone tried to make fun of me or make me feel bad I would just ignore them or keep talking and pretend that I didn't care.

Thankful, Happy, Strong, Inspiring

If I had to use just four words to describe Nick Vujicic they would be Thankful, Happy, Strong, and Inspiring. Nick would be thankful because even though he may be impaired in some ways he is still alive and living his life to the fullest. Nick is happy because even though his life is probably hard and challenging he is still smiling everyday and celebrating life and what he has. Nick is also very strong because his disability didn't stop him from living life, he still does what he loves to do and never gives up if something gets difficult. Nick is also inspiring because in the video, he started talking about girls and eating disorders, and he said that all girls are beautiful just the way we are. My perseverance and Nicks perseverance have basically nothing in common. When something gets hard, I sometimes give up, but not Nick he keeps going. The only thing I can really say that my preserverance(In a situation were I don't give up) and Nicks perseverance have in common is that after we preserver, we learn from that challenging moment. We appreciat smaller things more, and we usually end up atleast a little bit happier than before.

If you don't know who Nick Vujicic (Nicholas James Vujicic) is, he is a motivation speaker who travels everywhere and speaks to children, and parents, and just everyone in general. He was born with phocomelia(foh-koh-mee-lee-uh). Phocomelia is a rare disorder where someone is born with malformed limbs, or is born without a limb(or all limbs). He was born on December 4, 1982, and is currently 34 today.
